WVBC is the original ZBC. Started as the "voice" of Boston College, it used to broadcast into the Eagle's Nest dining area directly above the station. Presently, the sounds of VBC can be heard all day on BC Cable Channel 47.

WVBC's main function today is to serve as a training ground for future ZBC FM DJs. All FM DJs are required to spend at least a semester on VBC, honing their skills and learning how to use the various boards and switches that go into a radio show. After one semester, VBC are usually ready to start DJ-ing over the FM airwaves.
